Folk band Slowly Moving Clouds released their third album, Kolmas last week. Luka Bloom Saturday July 22nd in St. Joseph's Hall.Tickets available now on www.boylearts.com Luka Bloom has been performing since 1969, when he toured with his eldest brother Christy Moore. He recorded his first album ‘Treaty Stone’ in 1978 and adopted the name Luka Bloom in the late 1980s.He has several self-penned albums to his name including ‘Riverside’, ‘The Acoustic Motorbike’, ‘Before Sleep Comes’, ‘Out of the Blue’ and his most recent ‘Wake Up to the Shore’ a 50 song 3CD set covering his career to date.Luka’s early albums showcased his frenetic strumming style (once described as "stadium rock for the bedroom"), including "Delirious", the debut track on ‘Riverside’, and his penchant for thoughtful cover songs, an affinity that he maintains even in more recent work. He had previously covered LL Cool J's ‘I Need Love’ and Elvis Presley's ‘Can't Help Falling in Love’ on the album The Acoustic Motorbike.Luka last performed in Boyle in 2018 as part of Boyle Arts Festival.Boyle Arts Festival is supported by The Arts Council, Local Sponsors, Roscommon Co. Carole Coleman in conversation with Eileen Dunne.Friday July 28th in the Church of IrelandTickets available now on www.boylearts.com Veteran journalist Carole Coleman is back for her eighth BAF conversation and this year her special guest is news journalist Eileen Dunne, who retired last November, after 42 years with RTÉ.Eileen began her career as a radio announcer, moving to the Newsroom in 1984 and since then, has worked on major stories like the Good Friday Agreement, the death of Pope John Paul II and subsequent conclave as well as the visit of Queen Elizabeth to Ireland in 2011 and the return state visit of President Michael D.
