Church of Ireland
St Joseph’s Church Choir were formed in 2016 and sing once a month at masses in St Joseph’s Church, Boyle and at other church ceremonies. The four-part choir has over fifty members, a number of whom share the teaching and programming, together with Choir Director, Anne Kielty. The Choir performed in church and in concert at Sitges Live Festival, Spain in 2017 and 2018 and is delighted to be part of Boyle Arts Festival 2019, doing what we love to do – sing!
For this concert , they will be joined by the RTE Contempo String Quartet, both together and in separate performances. This talented quartet came together in 1995 in Bucharest and quickly established itself on the world stage winning many international prizes and being awarded many accolades in recognition of it’s excellence. Becoming Galway’s music artists in residence in 2003 and RTÉ quartet in residence in 2014, the group have enthralled and inspired audiences and students alike throughout Ireland. They have performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues and here in Ireland, we are very privileged to hear the ConTempo Quartet perform throughout the country regularly.
Equally at home with music from the Baroque to the Classical period and adept at performing Contemporary Composition, their repertoire is vast, spanning the centuries.
