Based in Dublin, their powerful sound is heavily influenced by raw Rock ‘n’ Roll, stomping Rockabilly and a red hot stew of Musica del Sud.

They always deliver an explosive & vibrant show getting the audience to move their minds, their hearts and their asses.

In 2016 Mongrel’s single “Stray Dogs” was play listed for several weeks on RTE1 – the national Irish broadcaster. And received extensive airplay on numerous other national radio stations. The band has also recorded a live session for the ‘Arena show’ on RTE1. Mongrel State have performed live on ‘The Ray Darcy Show’, one of Ireland’s highest rating national television programmes and have also featured on many other sessions for various Irish TV broadcasters.

‘Mestizo’, their debut album, was launched on 31st January 2016 to a sell-out crowd at Whelan’s, the seminal live music venue in Dublin. The Album was produced by Irish Americana produced Gavin Glass (who has worked with Billy Bragg, Joe Henry, Clarence Clemons, Joe Jackson, John Grant, Paul Brady, Lisa Hannigan, Mundy and The Minutes (among others). The album received loads of enthusiastic reviews from the Irish press, and was nominated for the Choice Music Award 2016.

Since forming, Mongrel State have been making their mark on all the best festivals in Ireland, including Electric Picnic, Kilkenny Roots, Vantastival, Knockanstockan, Sligo Live Festival & many others. They have also featured in festivals in Galicia, and toured in Andalusia, Spain.

2018 is shaping up to be Mongrel State’s most exciting year yet! With tours planned for the UK, Switzerland, Spain and beyond. As well as continuing to build on their Irish success, by playing many more of Ireland’s most renowned venues and festivals. Also, Mongrel State are going back into the studio to record some new material, and will release 2 radio singles in the 1st half of the year, respectively supported by new videos and PR campaigns in Ireland & the UK. 2018 is going to be an awesome year for Mongrel State!
