Book Launch: Beyond the Green Bridge
‘Beyond the Green Bridge’ is a new collection of poetry by prize-winning Roscommon writer Louise G Cole, to be launched in King House on July 26th.
Louise won the 2018 Hennessy Literary Award for Emerging Poetry, and is a past winner of Strokestown Poetry Festival’s Roscommon Poets’ Prize. She also writes short stories and flash fiction, and has been widely published in magazines, newspapers and anthologies in Ireland and the UK. Her first Hennessy nomination was for a short story published in the Irish Independent in 2014.
Louise is a member of the Hermit Collective, a group of artists, musicians and performance poets who stage pop-up shows in the west of Ireland. She is a regular performer at the Word Corner Café in the Dock, Carrick on Shannon, where writers gather to read their own work (and that of others) on the second Tuesday of every month (at 6pm, all welcome!). Louise is also an active member of the organising committee of one of Ireland’s longest running literary festivals, Strokestown International Poetry Festival.
Louise blogs about ‘reading, writing and other stuff’ at https://louisegcolewriter.wordpress.com/, where she explains the ‘G’ in her moniker is there to avoid confusion with an underwear model.
‘Beyond the Green Bridge’ is Louise G Cole’s first collection of poetry, and will be launched by award winning poet Jane Clarke.
Originally from a farm in Roscommon, Jane now lives in County Wicklow. She has won much literary and public acclaim, in 2016 winning a Hennessy Award for three poems from her collection ‘The River’. She also won the inaugural Listowel Writers’ Week Poem of the Year at the Irish Book Awards. www.janeclarkepoetry.ie
