THURSDAY 30TH & FRIDAY 31ST JULY
JAZZ MUSIC with The Odd Couple
2-DAY MUSIC WORKSHOP & CONCERT AGE 7-12
This fine trio is a great addition to any workshop, providing children with an entertaining and musically stimulating 1-2 hour workshop. Informal and fun, the trio members talk about improvisation, their instruments, play rhythm games and perform several tunes such as Dave Brubeck’s “Unsquare Dance”, tunes from “The Jungle Book” and “The Simpsons” interactively with the class. Cue the drum solo….

The multi-talented, all-instrumental trio, an intriguing mix of sad old rock star wannabees and hunky young GAA Connacht champs, have been fine-tuning their set for about a year, giving new life to tired old TV Themes and jazz standards, mixing lounge, blues, even adding a touch of sassy pop and dance; to the mix. The trio performs nifty arrangements of the most memorable tunes ever written, such as “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Riverdance”, “The Simpsons”, themes from "I Dream of Genie", "Mash", “Taxi”, “Hill Street Blues” and "The Odd Couple", alongside some novel renditions of Outkast, Amy Winehouse, Beatles and jazz classics. They feel they are ready for the world, but is the world ready for them?

The Odd Couple are Kieran Quinn, piano Eddie Lee, double bass, Ken McDonald, drums.
